Our School

CoL at MNS

Miramar North School is part of the Eastern Suburbs Kāhui Ako (Community of Learning – CoL)

For our school, this involves having one teacher in the role of an ‘In School Lead’. This year, our in-school lead is Sarah Macintosh, who will be focusing on te ao Māori. We have the following 4 strategic Goals for te ao Māori:

  • Community Engagement
  • Place-Based Learning
  • Teacher Capability
  • Knowing our Tamariki

Sarah will be:

  • Going into classrooms to teach a range of vocabulary, sentence structure, karakia and tikanga. This way all classes receive the same message and teachers receive professional development
  • Liaising with whānau
  • Working with schools in our Kāhui Ako to learn stories from the Peninsula
  • Providing professional development for teachers
  • Creating resources for teachers to use in classrooms
