Sports News from Nick

It’s been an action packed start to the term with everyone practising hard for Athletics Day. This year we have all syndicates participating which is fantastic. It’s great for all our tamariki to be part of the day! Just a reminder that Eastern Zone selection for Y4-6 is based on the day and also the lead-up sessions to the day, so if your tamariki is away on Athletics Day they will still be eligible for selection.

This term we have MNS teams representing us in touch rugby, netball and floorball. Many thanks to the parent helpers that have put their hands up for those teams – we really appreciate it and could not do it without you!

We also had a fantastic end of term with the Eastern Zone floorball tournament at ASB Sports Centre, to which we took along six Y5/6 teams. They all had a fantastic time – a massive thanks to all the parent helpers on the day and especially to the dynamic duo of Belinda and Anna for helping me run such a successful event. We have some great photos from the event.

Last but not least, some fantastic individual success for one of our Y5 tamariki, Peyton Corkin. She finished fourth in the recent inter-regional cross country event! This is a highly competitive event and just to qualify is amazing, let alone a top 4 finish. Ka rawe Peyton!
