Sports News from Mr O

March 8, 2023

It’s been a very busy start to the sports year at MNS with teams active in many sports.

In Floorball, it continues to be – by far – our most popular sport with multiple teams competing at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre. A huge thanks to all the parents and staff involved in running this perennially successful sport!

In Netball we have two teams participating in the Future Ferns Saturday morning sessions at Motu Kairangi Netball in Evans Bay. Also a massive thanks to all the parents that have stepped up to coach and manage – particularly the first timers!

Lastly we have three teams competing in the Total Touch competition at Wakefield Park every Wednesday. Touch continues to grow in popularity with a vast number of teams playing there each week. Thanks to all the parents coaching and managing those teams!

If you have the chance, I would highly recommend getting along to watch these competitions; they are always fun and entertaining!

At the end of term 1 our focus will turn to our annual MNS Cross Country. We will be practising here with our classes of course, but it’s also a great opportunity to get out while the weather is still decent with the whānau for a jog! More information will follow on this event, which is happening early next term.

Also keep an eye out for an email asking for registrations for our term two sports, Basketball and Netball.
